Hanson and Stemper Homer as Gophers Fall

Minneapolis, Minn. ââ'¬" The University of Minnesota fell 9-4 Sunday in the rubber game of a three-game series versus Nebraska.
With the loss, Minnesota is 23-12 on the season and 8-4 in the Big Ten.
After trailing 5-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth the Gophers put up a four spot on the scoreboard in the inning. Terrin Vavra led off the inning with a single to right field that was followed by a Micah Coffey single to right center. Toby Hanson then sent a 3-1 pitch out to right center for a three-run home run. Matt Stemper followed that with a home run of his own to make it 5-4.
The Cornhuskers would then tack on one run in the seventh inning and another three runs in the top of the ninth inning.
Toby Anderson started on the mound for the Maroon and Gold. The senior tossed four inning where he allowed five runs on six hits. Anderson picked up the loss and is now 4-4 on the season.
Tyler Hanson came in for two innings of relief and gave up one run on four hits. He struck out two batters and didn't allow a walk. Next out of the bullpen was Nick Lackney who tossed one inning, striking out one batter and not allowing a hit.
Senior Tim Shannon tossed 1.1 innings where he gave up three runs on two hits while striking out one batter. The final pitcher for Minnesota was Alex Farley who tossed 0.2 innings. The freshman allowed two hits and struck out one batter.
