Received Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award - made a program-record 31 relief appearances where he was 3-0 - posted a 2.95 ERA with two saves and 30 strikeouts - opponents had a .241 batting average against - Academic All-Big Ten - was presented the Scholar-Athlete Award. Game Highlights: Tossed 2.1 scoreless innings at UC Irvine (2/18) - struck out two batters in 1.2 hitless innings vs Hawaii (3/4) - threw one hitless inning with one strikeout vs South Dakota State (3/7) - tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings with one strikeout at California (3/14) - rang up two batters in three scoreless innings at Ohio State (3/25) - pitched two hitless innings at Michigan State (4/2) with one strikeout - struck out three batters in 1.2 hitless innings at NDSU (4/11) for his first win of the season - worked 1.1 hitless innings vs South Dakota State (4/18) - didn't allow a hit in 2.1 innings at Northern Illinois (4/25) while striking out two batters - struck out two batters in 1.2 scoreless innings vs Illinois (4/28) - tossed two hitless innings with two strikeouts vs No. 10 Long Beach State (5/12) - worked a clean 0.2 inning vs Iowa (5/27) in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
2016 - JUNIOR SEASON:
Made 12 appearances, including four starts, on the mound - struck out 11 and held opponents to a .267 batting average - made one appearance and surrendered just one hit in Big Ten play - Academic All-Big Ten. Game Highlights: Tossed 2.1 innings with two strikeouts in relief appearance against Utah Valley (2/20) - provided 2.2 flawless innings of relief and notched a strikeout at Georgia State (3/5) - hurled 3.0 innings with two hits and a strikeout in two relief appearances at Seattle U (3/11-3/16) - tossed 2.0 innings of relief work and struck out one against Augsburg (3/22) - threw 2.0 innings and struck out one against Saint Mary's (3/30) - earned the start and tossed 2.0 innings of work versus Northern Illinois (4/6) - totaled two strikeouts in 2.1 innings of relief versus South Dakota State (4/12) - threw 1.1 innings out of the bullpen and allowed just one hit against Maryland (4/16) - scattered four hits in 2.0 innings as the starter at North Dakota State (4/26) - struck out one in 2.0 innings on the bump in midweek matchup with Kansas (5/3) - got the start and matched a season-high with two strikeouts in 1.1 innings at South Dakota State (5/17).
2015 - SOPHOMORE SEASON:
Started 10 games and made one relief appearance - second on the team with 52.1 innings - had a 2-5 record and 5.85 ERA - struck out 26 batters and walked 11 - made Academic All-Big Ten. Game Highlights: Made his Minnesota debut in 3.2 innings of relief at Houston, where he struck out four and allowed two runs (2/14) - started at Texas, gave up two runs and notched a season-high five strikeouts in 5.0 innings (2/21) - tied his season high with 6.1 innings vs. Penn State, striking out four and allowing one earned run and no walks (4/18) - allowed two runs in 5.0 innings against Michigan (4/25) - after starting against UC Irvine, missed the last two weeks of the season with an injury.

HIGH SCHOOL:
A 2012 graduate of Hopkins High School - all-state honoree, Star Tribune All-Metro selection and Mr. Baseball finalist as a senior - All-Section 6AAA in 2012 - two-time All-Lake Conference selection - coached by Neil Lerner - played American Legion baseball for Post 320 - Lake Conference Academic Achievement and honor roll student.

Political science major - son of David and Martha Shannon - has a sister, Claire - born Sept. 6, 1993.
