Box Score

Toby Hanson hit 4-for-5 with a two-run home run and a double to lead the Gophers in a 6-1 win at North Dakota State. Minnesota extended its winning streak to 11 games and captured the season series against the Bison 2-1.

Cole McDevitt hit 3-for-4 with two runs batted in, and Tim Shannon collected his first victory of the season. Minnesota (20-8) tallied 12 hits to the Bison's (14-18) eight. Gophers pitchers struck out 10 batters.

Minnesota took advantage of Bison miscues in the first inning to go up 2-0. Riley Smith reached on an error and scored on Hanson's single to center. Hanson later scored on an error.

North Dakota State scored its lone run in the bottom of the first. Bennett Hotstetler singled and scored on the first of Minnesota's two double plays turned in the game.

Reggie Meyer had two strikeouts and pitched the first two of the Gopher defense's eight scoreless innings. Minnesota had scoring threats with two singles in the fifth and three walks in the sixth, but NDSU ended both with double plays.

Shannon returned the favor in the bottom of the sixth. He entered the game with bases loaded and one out, and struck out the next two batters to preserve the Gophers' 2-1 lead.

Hanson hit his second homer of the season in Minnesota's next turn at the plate, sending the ball ricocheting off a sign in right-center. Micah Coffey, who walked, scored on the hit. Hanson's four hits in the game were a career high.

The Gophers added to their lead in the ninth when McDevitt drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single. All with two outs, Jordan Smith singled, Jordan Kozicky walked, Eduardo Estrada Jr. reached on a wild pitch after striking out and McDevitt delivered his hit.

Eight Gopher pitchers saw action in Tuesday night's game. Nolan Burchill made the start and was followed by Meyer, Nick Lackney, Tyler Hanson, Jackson Rose, Shannon and Brian Glowicki. Neither Lackney nor Hanson allowed a baserunner, and Glowicki ended the game on three strikeouts.
