Prior to his time with the Reds, McWilliams earned his Master’s in Exercise Science at Appalachian State University. While there, he interned with the Mountaineer’s football and wrestling strength and conditioning staff. In the midst of earning his degree, McWilliams spent the summer of 2015 as a strength and conditioning intern at Penn State University. While there, he worked with men’s and women’s track teams, men’s and women’s hockey teams, volleyball, and football.
Before enrolling at Appalachian State, McWilliams spent three and a half years as an Assistant Wrestling Coach and Assistant Sports Performance Director at his alma mater, University of Wisconsin-Platteville. During his time there, he programmed and oversaw training for wrestling, volleyball, softball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball.
McWilliams is certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC) as well as through the National Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCS). Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife Beth and two bonus children Hudson and Hadley.
