Minnesota Announces Annual “Steak and Beans” Scrimmage Schedule

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota has announced its annual "Steak and Beans" fall scrimmage schedule, highlighting 15 opportunities for fans to see the upcoming 2026 Gophers in action before the start of the season.
The name of the long storied intrasquad scrimmage series is partially credited to former assistant coach Rob Fornasiere, who was looking to "spice up the competitiveness" of fall practices. At the end of the schedule between the Maroon and Gold squads, the winning team is served with a steak dinner while the losers look on with a dinner full of beans.
The Steak and Beans series will feature three games a week for five weeks, beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 17. All games will be held at Siebert Field, and are open to the public.
