‘U’ Travels to Georgia for The Johnnie-O

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GA. - The University of Minnesota men's golf team travels south for The Johnnie-O Mar. 9-10, hosted by Rutgers. The first round will begin around 7:45 a.m. CT Monday, followed immediately by the second round. The final round will commence as early as 7:20 a.m. CT on Tuesday morning.
The Golden Gophers are coming off their best performance of the season, tying for third place at the Colleton River Collegiate (Mar. 1-2) with a team score of 4-under-par. Sophomores Chun-Ta Wu and Jack Crousore led the way, as they each finished inside the top 10. Wu finished a career-best fifth place with a score of 5-under-par (211), tallying 14 birdies throughout the event. Crousore collected a score of 2-under-par (214) with 13 birdies, tying him for 10th place among the field.

The Field:
Fifteen teams will compete over the next two days. Minnesota is one of four Big Ten Conference teams participating, including Nebraska, Penn State, and Rutgers. Other teams include Cincinnati, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, Kansas, Kennesaw State, Memphis, NC State, Notre Dame, Princeton, UNCG, and West Virginia.
Gophers' Lineup:
Wu, Crousore, freshman Joe Honsa, and seniors Cormac Sharpe and Jack Wetzel will participate in team competition over the next two days. Freshman Torger Ohe will participate as an individual.
The Course:
The Johnnie-O will take place at the Sea Island Resort in St. Simons Island, Ga., on the Plantation Course. This course was recently redesigned in 2019 and inspired by the traditional profile of Walter Travis' 1928 original nine-hole course. It is the annual home to the PGA Tour's RSM Classic. The course scores at a par-72 while covering 7,060 yards.
