Gophers Pick Up Thrilling, 10-Inning Victory Over Sun Devils

Red shirt senior Josh Fitzgerald hit the game winning home run in the top of the tenth to give the Gophers the lead.
Eli Sundquist picked up the victory throwing 2.0 innings and collected five strikeouts. The most notable strikeout was the final one of the game to work out of the bases load jam.
Parker Knoll led the Gopher offense with three hits and three RBIs. Drew Berkland also added two RBIs off a two run home run.
Cole Selvig got the Friday start yet again for the Gophers and threw 5.0 innings and recorded two strikeouts. Will Whelan threw 2.0 innings and Joe Sperry threw 1.0 innings.
How it Happened
- Arizona State scored in the bottom of the second off an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to take a 2-0 lead.
- Jake Larson got the Gopher offense going with a double in the top of the third before scoring on a sacrifice fly from Parker Knoll. Martin singled in the third and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Easton Richter.
- Parker Knoll singled in the top of the sixth and came around to score off of Drew Berkland's two run home run that gave the Gophers a 4-2 lead.
- Jake Perry was hit by a pitch and pinch runner Brayden Hellum came around to score on Knoll's RBI single to make the score 5-2 Gophers.
- The Sun Devils scored three in the bottom of the seventh off of a bases loaded walk, RBI single, and fielder's choice tying the game at five.
- ASU added one in the bottom of the eighth off a sac fly to take the 6-5 lead.
- Brayden Hellum hit a double and came around to score on an RBI triple from Knoll to tie the game at 6.
- Josh Fitzgerald hit a solo home run to give the Gophers a 7-6 lead.
- Sundquist worked out of a bases-loaded zero out jam to end the game with his fifth strikeout.
Game Notes
- Berkland hit his fourth home run of the season tying his 2024 season total. Berkland now has team high 10 RBIs on the season.
- The Gopher defense turned five double plays.
- Knoll now has a hit in each of the last four games.
- Eli Sundquist picked up his first victory of the season.
