  • Title:
    Offensive Quality Control
Brian Sheehan joined the University of Minnesota program in March 2022 as offensive quality control.

In his role, he has assisted the offensive line coach with run game plans, evaluated underclassmen offensive lineman prospects, coached position drills during prospect evaluation camps, completed projects for the head coach, supported on-campus recruiting efforts and helps prepare for team practices.

During the 2023 season, he also served as interim tight ends coach for the final eight games of the season. He helped mentor Brevyn Spann-Ford, who ended the season with 25 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns.

Sheehan came to Minnesota from nearby Hamline University where he was the assistant head football coach and offensive coordinator since 2017. He was also the offensive line coach and punt team coordinator at Hamline from March 2016 – February 2017. Sheehan helped lead Hamline to two of its best seasons in the last 25 years (2016 and 2021), worked with a record-setting quarterback and coordinated a top red zone scoring offense.

Prior to Hamline, Sheehan spent four seasons at Defiance College, where he served as Head Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator. The 2012-2015 seasons were the program's most productive four seasons of scoring and total offense since 2000. Additionally, 54 Yellow Jackets earned All-Conference honors during that stretch.

Sheehan spent five seasons as the Offensive Coordinator at Thomas More (Ky.) University, where he helped lead the Saints to four consecutive conference championships, two undefeated regular seasons, and four straight trips to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.

Sheehan also spent two seasons as the Wide Receivers Coach and Strength Coach at Hobart (N.Y.) College, helping the Statesmen to the NCAA Division III Playoffs both years on staff. His coaching career began at Heidelberg University in Ohio, serving as Offensive Coordinator for the junior varsity squad while earning his Master's in Education.

The Cleveland, Ohio native received his undergraduate degree at Marietta (Ohio) College and was also a three-year starter at tight end for the Pioneers.

Sheehan and his wife, Mandy, have two sons (Nolan and Liam).
