Maxwell Football Club Puts Taylor on Watch List

Senior running back is one of the most versatile players in the nation
The Maxwell Football Club announced today that University of Minnesota running back Darius Taylor was named to its watch list for the 90th Maxwell Award presented annually to the outstanding player in college football.
The Maxwell Award has been presented to the College Player of the Year since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert "Tiny" Maxwell who was a former standout at Swarthmore College and a renowned sportswriter and football official.
Taylor is one of 17 Big Ten athletes on the list and one of 30 running backs honored. The senior is one of the most versatile offensive players in college football. He has rushed 486 times in his career for 2,455 yards and 19 touchdowns and has made 99 receptions for 687 yards and two scores. He has also thrown for a touchdown in his career.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced Nov. 10, 2026, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled Nov. 24, 2026. The winner of the 90th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 10, 2026. The formal presentations of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards on Saturday March 13, 2027, at the Coca Cola Roxy Theater in Atlanta, Georgia.
