Gophers Fall 7-6 to No. 24 Nebraska in Game Two

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The University of Minnesota baseball team continued their final weekend series of the 2026 regular season today against the No. 24 ranked University of Nebraska, falling 7-6 to the Cornhuskers at Siebert Field in game two of the homestand.
Marcus Kruzan came out of the bullpen for Minnesota and was credited with the loss. Isaac Morton was a bright spot for the Golden Gophers, starting the ballgame and throwing three scoreless innings, allowing one hit, with one walk and seven strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gophers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Minnesota plated two runs when Easton Richter left the yard over the center field wall with Charlie Sutherland aboard.
The Gophers then held the Cornhuskers scoreless before expanding their lead in the fifth inning, pushing a run across on a ground rule double from Jack Bello and bringing the score to 3-0 in their favor.
Minnesota kept Nebraska without a run before building their lead to 4-0 the following inning, scoring one run in the sixth on an RBI single from Brayden Hellum.
The Cornhuskers fought back, closing the gap to 4-1 until Minnesota added some extra runs in the eighth. The Gophers pushed two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Ty Allen that scored Davis Hamilton and Brayden Hellum, bringing the Minnesota advantage to 6-1.
The Gophers were unable to hold the lead, as Nebraska scored six runs throughout the top of the ninth to grab the 7-6 win.
