4/26/2026 2:34:00 PM | Softball
MINNEAPOLIS – The Wisconsin Badgers proved to be too much for Minnesota on this particular day, as the Golden Gophers fell 5-3 on Sunday.
Sydney Schwartz (10-16) got the ball to start for Minnesota (15-33, 6-15) and took the loss. Natalie Susa was a bright spot for the Golden Gophers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing three innings, giving up one run on two hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
In the batter's box, the Golden Gophers were paced by Cassie Johnson, who went 2-for-2 on the day with a home run, two walks and two RBIs. Brooklyn Jones put together a standout performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 4-0, the Golden Gophers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Jae Cosgriff came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minnesota and get them on the board.
The Golden Gophers deficit expanded to 5-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Minnesota scored twice on Johnson's two-run homer, which brought the score to 5-3 in favor of the Badgers. The Golden Gophers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
