Minnesota Falls to No. 19 Washington, 7-2, in Game Two

4/11/2026 9:37:00 PM | Softball

SEATTLE, Wash. – Maggie Werner recorded two extra-base hits, but Minnesota fell to No. 19 Washington, 7-2, on Saturday at Husky Softball Stadium.

Sydney Schwartz (10-11) got the start and took the loss in the circle for the Golden Gophers (14-26, 6-8). Natalie Susa provided a bright spot out of the bullpen, tossing two shutout innings while allowing one hit with one walk and one strikeout.

Werner led Minnesota offensively, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Schwartz also contributed at the plate, finishing 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. Tara Wolocko added a multi-hit effort, going 2-for-3 with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Minnesota struck first in the second inning, as Schwartz came around to score to give the Gophers an early 1-0 lead.

Washington responded with four runs to take control, but Minnesota answered in the third. Werner came across to score, trimming the deficit to 4-2.

That would be as close as the Gophers would get, as the Huskies added three more runs down the stretch to secure the 7-2 win.
