McCarthy Earns All American Honorable Mention on Day One of 2026 NCAA Championships

ATLANTA, GA. – The University of Minnesota women's swimming and diving program closed out day one at the 2026 DI Women's Swimming and Diving Championships today, tallying an All American Honorable Mention after the first three events of the competition.

 

Katie McCarthy earned her first career All American Honorable Mention in today's 1650 free, tallying an 11th place finish overall after the final heat. McCarthy started off her championships strong, recording a personal best of 16:03.41. McCarthy will now look ahead to her next two events of these championships, the 400 IM and the 500 free.

 

Minnesota also tallied a 22nd place finish in tonight's 200 medley relay, recording a total time of 1:36.77. Ava Yablonski launched the effort with a split time of 24.12, followed by Ava Goodno who tallied a split of 27.53 in leg two. Morgan Thomas was third to touch the water with a split of 23.21, with Livi Wanner anchoring the relay with a total split time of 21.91.

 

The 2026 DI Women's Swimming and Diving Championships continue tomorrow with day two from the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia. All the action is set to kick off at 9:00 AM (CT).
