Third-place effort for 'U' junior Mesones
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Minnesota women's golf team finished the Valspar Augusta Invitational in fifth place following a team score of 297 (+9) in Sunday's final round from Forest Hills Golf Course.
Luisamariana Mesones turned in another top-10 effort for the Golden Gophers, her fifth straight and sixth of the season, after carding a third-round score of 1-under-par 71. Her event total of 213 (-3) earned her a spot in third place.
Missouri held on to pick up the team victory behind a final score of 862 (-2), a four-shot margin over second-place Furman. Isabel Brozena from Xavier was the individual medalist with a one-shot win and a final score of 209 (-7) thanks to an 8-under-par 64 Sunday.

After a rare double bogey on her second hole of the day, Mesones responded with the Maroon and Gold's lone eagle of the tournament three holes later as she recorded a three on the par-five ninth. The junior added two birdies before finishing with her third-consecutive top-three performance and second round under par for the weekend.

Reese McCauley closed the weekend by recording an 81 (+9) in the third round and tied for 44th at 227. The sophomore secured a pair of birdies on Sunday, totaling a team-best 11 for the tournament.
