Schwartz Earns Big Ten Pitcher of the Week Honors

MINNEAPOLIS – Senior pitcher Sydney Schwartz earned her first weekly conference award of the 2026 season and the second of her career, as the Big Ten Conference announced Monday.
The Victoria, Minn., native struck out 23 batters over 16.0 innings across four appearances. Schwartz collected two wins and a save while posting a 1.31 ERA for the weekend.
She opened the week with a dominant complete-game performance against Idaho State on Feb. 13, striking out 10 and allowing just one run over 7.0 innings. Later that day, Schwartz earned a win in relief against University of Texas at El Paso.
On Saturday, she secured a save in Minnesota's victory over New Mexico State, tossing three scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Schwartz closed out the weekend with another three-inning outing against the Aggies, allowing no earned runs and striking out five.
Schwartz becomes the first Minnesota player to earn weekly Big Ten honors since she previously earned Pitcher of the Week on April 28, 2025.
