Jones, Weimer Open 2025 Cross Country Season with Oz Memorial Wins

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota cross country teams kicked off the 2025 cross country campaign on Friday night at the Oz Memorial at the Les Bolstad Golf Course in Falcon Heights. Aidan Jones and Ali Weimer (unattached) were the winners of the two races held at sunset.
Weimer's victory came in unattached fashion with Taylor Isabel being the top Gopher finisher in uniform as the meet's runner-up. Weimer, the reigning Big Ten cross country bronze medalist, bested her 2024 winning time by about 34 seconds to win the 5K in a time of 17:45.4. Taylor Isabel also had an impressive showing with a runner-up time of 18:21.3, a career-best time at the 5K distance on a cross country course. A number of individuals made their official debut in a Maroon and Gold uniform with Sam Scott finishing fourth on the men's side (15:50.5) while Caityn Osanai was 10th for the women.
Other than Weimer's unattached win, Norah Hushagen ran unattached in her first collegiate competition and finished in a time of 18:58.4. Jaedyn Chase was the top unattached finisher in the men's 5K in a time of 15:55.1.Â

Minnesota will take three weeks to prepare for the 39th Roy Griak Invitational that is scheduled for September 19, at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
