Three Pitchers Combine for Shutout in 11-0 Win Against St. Thomas

ST. PAUL- Senior Thorsteinson, sophomore Hemmesch and freshman Dobis combined to throw a shutout on Wednesday as the Minnesota Golden Gophers blanked the St. Thomas (MN) Tommies 11-0.
Thorsteinson (3-3) started and picked up the win for Minnesota (21-22), going five shutout innings while giving up four hits, walking one, and striking out one. Hemmesch was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Minnesota scored three times in the inning on a single from sophomore Sutherland that pushed all three runs across.
The Golden Gophers then tacked on runs in the second, fourth, and sixth innings, with their biggest output coming in the sixth when they scored five times. The big hit in that inning was a three-run home run off the bat of junior Mosh.
GAME NOTES
» Thorsteinson, Hemmesch, and Dobis combined to throw a four-hit shutout.
