Minnesota Takes Down Nebraska 6-4 in 10 Innings

LINCOLN, NEB. -The Minnesota Golden Gophers needed 10 innings to get the job done, but pulled off the 6-4 extra-innings victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers Friday.
Senior Eli Sundquist (3-1) got the win out of the bullpen for Minnesota (22-22, ). The right-hander went 1.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits, allowing three walks and striking out one. Junior Joe Sperry started the ballgame and went 4.2 innings, surrendering one run on three hits, walking one and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Junior Weber Neels put Minnesota on the board with a two-out solo home run off senior Will Walsh.
The Cornhuskers then tied the ballgame at one before the Golden Gophers came back to reclaim their advantage in the fourth inning. which brought the score to 4-1 in favor of the Golden Gophers.
Nebraska clawed back to tie the ballgame at four before Minnesota reclaimed a 6-4 advantage in the tenth inning. The Golden Gophers added two runs when a single from senior Jake Larson scored freshman Jameson Martin and sophomore Brayden Hellum. The score remained 6-4 for the rest of the game, as Minnesota held on for the win.
