Minnesota also had a number of competitors at the Bethel Invitational.

MINNEAPOLIS – Led by a hammer throw victory from Kostas Zaltos the University of Minnesota track and field team excelled in its competition down at the Throwtown Ramona World Invitational in Ramona, Okla. Minnesota also had a small contingent compete at the Bethel Invitational in Arden Hills, Minn.

Zaltos' victory in the hammer throw was paired with a second-place finish by teammate, and fellow Greek, Angelos Mantzouranis. Zaltos' tossed a sixth-attempt 77.12m (253-0) to claim the top spot while Mantzouranis' 76.39m (250-7) came on his third attempt. The 1-2 finish for the duo topped a field that included eight other top 100 hammer throwers in the world, according to the IAAF World Athletics rankings.

Anthonett Nabwe posted two different program top three performances during her time in Ramona. The Liberian started with the women's discus on Thursday, finishing fourth overall in the B-section with a toss of 58.79m (192-10) to move up to No. 2 all-time in Minnesota history. On Friday Nabwe put forth the No. 3 mark in program history in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 68.00m (223-1). The hammer throw mark for Nabwe helped her finish seventh overall in the field, but the top finisher among the college competitors. Additionally, Nabwe finished fifth on Sunday morning in the women's shot put with a toss of 16.72m (54-10 1/4) on her fourth attempt.

After his Minnesota career-best at the Pepsi Florida Relays, Isaiah Schafer followed up with another quality performance in the shot put. The third-year Gopher tossed a 19.39m (63-7 1/2) on his third throw to finish third overall in Ramona.

Back in the state of Minnesota the Maroon and Gold competed at the Bethel Invitational. Most notably the Golden Gophers saw Aaron Charles put forth a lifetime best (wind-legal) 100m time of 10.42 (+0.2 m/s) to win. In total the Gophers won eight different events during the one-day meet. Those victories included: Spencer Brown (110m hurdles - 13.99 (-0.9 m/s)), Zariyah Black (100m hurdles - 13.93 (-1.1 m/s)), Ellie Kuechle (400m hurdles - 1:00.77), Charlotte Lange (1500m - 4:36.21), Ella Pavlovich (Hammer Throw - 56.53m | 185-5), Kennedy Martinson (High Jump - 1.65m | 5-5) and Ella Weippert (41.80m | 137-1).
