2024 Outdoor Track & Field • Freshman Season: Had one of the best true freshman hammer throw seasons in NCAA history... At seasons end held the No. 19 hammer throw mark in NCAA history (75.55m | 247-11) that he set at the 114th Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa... According to the USTFCCCA, holds the NCAA freshman record in the hammer throw with his 75.55m (247-11) toss in 2024... Won the Big Ten Championship in the hammer throw with a mark of 75.15m (246-7), giving Minnesota its fourth straight men's hammer throw title dating back to 2021... Set a Big Ten Championship record in the men's hammer throw with the mark of 75.15m (246-7)... Named the Big Ten's Freshman of the Year... Earned an NCAA bronze medal in the hammer throw with a toss of 75.50m (247-8) at Hayward Field, in Eugene, Ore.... One of the best young hammer throw talents in the world will be attending the University of Minnesota this fall. Angelos Mantzouranis is fresh off a fourth-place finish at the Greece Senior National Championships at just 19 years of age where he threw a lifetime best 70.71m (232-0) with the senior level weight (7.26 kilograms). Mantzouranis in 2023 is undefeated at the six-kilogram hammer throw weight, which is the weight that the junior level uses in the event and holds a lifetime best mark of 78.30m (256-11).
