The Gophers went a season-best 49.550 on the final event
MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 15 Minnesota gymnastics team emerged victoriously in its senior day quad meet with a score of 197.150. Iowa (196.700) took second, LIU (191.900) third and Centenary (186.575) placed fourth.
"Senior night is always so special," said head coach Jenny Hansen. "To see their growth over the years and to see them shine is amazing. I'm happy with where we are for this time of year, but we need to continue cleaning things up for the postseason."
Minnesota improved to 14-1 (8-1 B1G) on the season, including a perfect 8-0 at home.
The Gophers earned 49.025 on vault, 49.200Â on bars, 49.250 on beam and 49.550 on floor.
Minnesota's floor score of 49.550 was a season-best and topped last week's previous high of 49.450. Five Golden Gophers went 9.900-or-higher.
Jordyn Lyden (9.925) tied for her seventh bars event title and fourth beam title. Teryn Crump hit a career-high 9.925 on bars, tying for the event title, her third. Emily Koch won her first event title of the season on beam with a season-high 9.900 in her final meet at the Pav.
"Emily just looks so focused and in the moment. You could just tell she was going to nail her routines today," Hansen said.
Mya Hooten took home her 10th event title in 10 floor routines this year after going 9.950. She had been sick all week and hadn't practiced since Tuesday, but found a way to gut it out and perform at her best in what was her final home meet.
"She's such a trooper," Hansen said. "She hadn't practiced and had no expectation of her doing anything today. We were a little heartbroken for her and the crowd. But Mya has this way of making it happen when it matters, and she did that today. I'm just glad she got to have last meet in front of the fans at the Pav. I know that really meant a lot to her."
Iowa's Aurelie Tran won the all-around title with a score of 39.500. She also tied for event titles on vault (9.850), bars (9.925) and beam (9.900).
