‘U’ Completes Opening Round of ANNIKA Intercollegiate

LAKE ELMO, Minn. – The Golden Gophers women's golf team finished day one of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M in 12th place after 18 holes Monday. Minnesota carded a team score of 309 (+21) in the first round at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn.
Sophomore Lauryn Finley led the Maroon and Gold after carding two birdies in her opening round to post a 2-over-par 74. She rounded out 18 holes of play tied for 24th place.
Wake Forest sits in first among the 12 teams with an 8-under-par team score of 280 after the first of three days of competition. Zoe Cusack of Virginia is holding the top spot on the individual leaderboard after finishing with a score of 66 (-5).
Notable:
Luisamariana Mesones closed out play tied for 32nd place after the first round. The senior registered a 75 (+3) after securing one birdie on hole nine in Lake Elmo, Minn., her final hole of the day.
Freshman Rose Solberg bounced back from an early double bogey to pencil in a 5-over-par 77 in her first collegiate tournament appearance. With one birdie on the front nine, Solberg is tied for 42nd place after 18 holes during the first round.
Sophomore Emree Cameron carded an 83 (+11) by meeting par eight times in her first competition as a Gopher. The Louisville transfer landed in 58th place after round one.
Junior Reese McCauley shot a 14-over-par 86 in the first round of play after meeting par eight times. The Inver Grove Heights, Minn., native ended the day in 60th place at her hometown tournament.

The second round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M will take place on Tuesday, September 8. It is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with live results available via Scoreboard by Clippd.
