Minnesota Tied 13th After Opening Day at Windon Memorial Classic

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The University of Minnesota men's golf team completed 36 holes Monday at the Windon Memorial Classic, hosted by Northwestern University at Onwentsia Club.
The Golden Gophers posted team rounds of 292 (+12) and 285 (+5) to finish the opening day at 577 (+17), good for tied 13th place heading into Tuesday's final round. Minnesota improved by seven strokes during the afternoon round and will look to continue its climb up the leaderboard over the tournament's final 18 holes.
Kansas leads the team standings at 555 (-5) through 36 holes. Individually, Cal Poly's Frederick Egnatios and South Florida's Nino Palmquist share the lead at 135 (-5) entering the final round.
Jack Crousore paced the Maroon and Gold on Monday, carding rounds of 73 and 67 to finish the day at even par. The junior's second-round 67 is the lowest round by a Gopher this season and moved him into contention heading into Tuesday's final round.
Notable Performances:
Chun-Ta Wu sits at 3-over-par through 36 holes after rounds of 72 and 71. The junior closed the day with a 1-over-par second round and enters the final day as Minnesota's second-lowest scorer.
Finlay Galloway finished the opening day at 8-over-par after improving by four strokes in the afternoon round. The freshman followed a first-round 75 with a 73 during round two.
Joe Honsa will begin the final round at 6-over-par after posting scores of 72 and 74. The sophomore remains within striking distance of the top half of the individual leaderboard.
Ryan Stendahl rounded out Minnesota's scoring lineup with rounds of 80 and 79 and sits at 19-over-par heading into Tuesday's final round.
