The event on Chicago's north side is scheduled for Friday morning.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota cross country program is back at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational for its 47th edition on the north side of Chicago at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course. The one-day event will be contested on the morning of September 25.
This year's event consists of two races per gender with the Tom Cooney Championship Races starting with the women's 6k at 9 a.m. and men's 8k at 9:40 a.m. CT. The event is not scheduled to be streamed but live results can be followed online.

EARLY RANKINGS FOR THE MAROON AND GOLD
Coming in at No. 24 the Minnesota women's cross country team earned a top-25 ranking for the first time this season in the latest USTFCCCA rankings. The national ranking for Minnesota's women is the third consecutive season the Maroon and Gold have earned a top-25 distinction. Regionally the women of Minnesota are ranked No. 4 in the Midwest region while the men are sixth.
LAST TIME OUT – ROY GRIAK INVITATIONAL
For the fourth time over the past eight years the Golden Gopher women's team won the Roy Griak Invitational. Minnesota cross country head coach Sarah Hopkins' Maroon & Gold secured the team win at the Fort Snelling Golf Course with 26 team points highlighted by individual champion Isabelle Schmitz. Schmitz' win was clocked at 19:44.8, the fourth-fastest 6K time in school history. The Hutchinson, Minn., native is the second Gopher in three years (Ali Weimer, 2024) to win the Roy Griak Invitational and the fifth Gopher to ever win the individual title. Behind the individual winner for Minnesota was true freshman Jazleen Malherek-Osorio who came across the line third overall in the second race of her college career in a time of 19:57.3. Minnesota's remaining top five all came through inside the women's top 10 with Zoie Dundon (20:04.5), Izzy Roemer (20:06.3) and Taylor Isabel (20:07.0) finishing fifth, eighth and ninth, respectively.
With much of the lineup not running at this year's Griak, the Maroon and Gold men were led by second-year Gopher Jace Haerter in 14th overall in an 8K time of 24:17.6. Both Cameron Stocke (24:18.5) and Shane Griepentrog (24:20.8) also finished inside the top 20 for the Golden Gopher men. Tyler Kissell was 29th overall in a time of 24:40.5 while Will Weber rounded out the top five for Minnesota in 25:09.6 to finish 54th.
