Minnesota Sits at 17-Over After 36 Holes at Windsong

INDEPENDENCE, Minn. - The University of Minnesota men's golf team concluded the opening day of the 2nd Swing Gopher Invitational Sunday after 36 holes at Windsong Farm Golf Club.
The Golden Gophers posted team rounds of 295 (+11) and 289 (+6) to finish the day in eighth place at 584 (+17). Minnesota improved by five strokes during the afternoon round and will enter Monday's final 18 holes looking to scale the standings on its home course.
Oklahoma holds the top spot on the team leaderboard at even par through 36 holes. Georgia's individual James Earle and Oklahoma's Ryder Cowan share the individual lead at 135 (-7) heading into the tournament's final round.
Jack Crousore paced the Maroon and Gold through two rounds and sits at even par after carding matching rounds of 71. The junior recorded six birdies during the opening day and leads all Gopher competitors heading into Monday.
Notable Performances:
Joe Honsa finished the day at 4-over-par after rounds of 73 and 73. The sophomore from Mendota Heights, Minn., recorded six birdies across 36 holes, including three in a row during round one and sits four strokes behind Crousore entering the final round.
Martin Shone closed the day at 6-over-par, opening with a 75 before improving to a 73 in the afternoon round. The freshman totaled four birdies across his first action of collegiate golf.
Junior Chun-Ta Wu finished the opening day with a total score of 151 (76-75), while Torger Ohe rebounded from an opening-round 81 with a 73 in the afternoon session to finish at 154 (+12).
Competing as an individual, Finlay Galloway posted one of Minnesota's best rounds of the afternoon, firing a 1-under-par 70 after opening with a 75. The freshman enters the final round at 3-over-par.
Ryan Stendahl concluded the day at 152 (+10) after rounds of 74 and 78. Kyler Schwamb (78-80) and Landon Houska (82-76) each enter the final round at 158 (+16).

The final round of the 2nd Swing Gopher Invitational is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 21, beginning at 7:20 a.m. (CT) at Windsong Farm Golf Club. Live scoring will be available via Scoreboard by Clippd as the Gophers conclude their home tournament.
