Wu Travels to Columbus for NCAA Regionals

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Minnesota sophomore Chun-Ta Wu is set to compete in the Columbus Regional of the NCAA men's golf championships May 18-20 at the Ohio State University Golf Club. Wu will tee off at 8:53 a.m. CT Monday for the first round. The second and third rounds could begin as early as 8:20 a.m. CT on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Wu becomes the first Golden Gopher since 2024 to compete as an individual in the NCAA Championships, where Ben Warian shot 11-under-par (199) at the Stanford Regional, tying for second place among the field.Ā 

The sophomore is coming off a fantastic second collegiate season, participating in all 12 tournaments. He recorded three top-10 finishes and five top-20 results, including a tournament title at The Johnnie-O (Mar. 9-10) with a score of 18-under-par (198). Recently, he tied for ninth place at the Big Ten Championships (May 1-3) with a score of 1-under-par (209).Ā 

The native of New South Wales, Australia, earned multiple honors during his second season in the Maroon and Gold. He collected Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors from his title performance at The Johnnie-O, helping him earn All-Big Ten Second Team honors throughout the year. Wu registered a team-low stroke average of 71.53.

The Field:Ā 
Wu will compete as the fourth seed against nine individuals over the next three days. The following seeding order includes Riccardo Fantinelli (Princeton), Ryan Shellberg (Iowa), Paul Beauvy (Iowa State), Caleb Bond (Michigan State), Ashton McCulloch (Michigan State), Lucas Politano (Rutgers), Carter Maneth (Middle Tennessee), Zachary May (Iowa State), and Arjun Singh Bhatia (LIU).Ā 

Thirteen programs will compete in team competition, including Florida, Arizona State, Stanford, Long Beach State, Florida State, Utah, South Carolina, California, South Florida, Memphis, Oregon, Illinois State, and Wright State.Ā 

The Course:Ā 
The Columbus Regional will take place at the Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio, on the Scarlet course. This course has held numerous events since its inception in 1938, including many U.S. Open qualifiers, U.S. Amateur qualifiers, the 1977 USGA Junior Championship, and the first women's collegiate golf championship in 1941. The course scores at a par 71 while covering 7,422 yards.
