GOPHERS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Maroon and Gold men and women were both ranked inside the USTFCCCA's latest outdoor track and field rankings. The men came in at No. 13 nationally while the women were 20th, making Minnesota one of three Big Ten programs to have both teams ranked inside the top 20.

In the event squad rankings Minnesota's depth on the men's side shows in the hammer throw where they are ranked No. 2 nationally and also in the 100m where the team is No. 3. The men's hammer group in Minnesota averages 67.83m (222-6) among its top four. The women's team has two events that are ranked No. 11 nationally with the women's 400m hurdles at No. 7 while the 10K crew is at No. 11. LAST TIME OUT
The University of Minnesota saw 14 different program top 10 performances go down at the Tom Jones Memorial and the Bryan Clay Invitational last weekend. Both Anthonett Nabwe and John Caleb secured school records in Gainesville, Fla., at James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track. Nabwe continued her historic 2025-26 campaign with her fifth-attempt 75.72m (248-5) in the women's hammer throw to win the competition over teammate Hadley Streit's 71.98m (236-2). Nabwe, a 'The Bowerman' Watch List member, is now No. 2 all-time in the hammer throw in NCAA history and set a new African record in the process. The nearly 15-foot lifetime best for Nabwe is the best hammer throw by an NCAA student-athlete since Camryn Rogers of Cal threw a collegiate record of 77.67m (254-10) in 2022.

On the track the Maroon and Gold saw a two-year-old 100m school record go down when true freshman John Caleb registered a wind-legal 10.00 (+2.0 m/s). The performance broke 2024 Olympian Devin Augustine's 10.02 record and makes Caleb one of the fastest in Big Ten history, with the conference all-time record sitting at 9.94. The program record run gives men's sprints coach Ibrahim Kabia his third different 100m school record holders since 2022 (Kion BenjaminDevin Augustine and John Caleb). Nationally Caleb's 10.00 in the 100m ranks him seventh nationally and first among freshman in the NCAA.

NABWE MINI DOCUMENTARY AVAILABLE TO WATCH
Take a behind the scenes look at Anthonett Nabwe's story to becoming an NCAA weight throw champion. Nabwe became the third Golden Gopher women's track and field athlete to win a national title when she took home the women's weight throw title in March during the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Nabwe's championship throw of 25.13m (82-5 1/2) set a new personal-best and ranked as the third best throw in NCAA history. It was also the tenth best performance in world history. Her previous best was 24.67 meters (80-11 1/4).

NABWE APPEARS ON 'THE BOWERMAN' WATCH LIST
University of Minnesota women's track and field redshirt junior Anthonett Nabwe was recognized as one of 10 student-athletes on the Women's 2026 Update No. 3 Watch List for The Bowerman, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on March 25. The award considers athletes' performances during the NCAA indoor track & field and outdoor track & field seasons with the performance window running from December 1 of the preceding year through the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the year in which the award is given.

Nabwe is the first Gopher since 2010 (Alicia Rue) to be named to 'The Bowerman' Watch List. In March Nabwe made history at the NCAA Indoor Championships becoming the weight throw national champion with a toss of 25.13m (82-5 1/2) in Fayetteville, Ark., at Randal Tyson Track Center. The two-time Big Ten weight throw champion became the second Gopher to win an NCAA title in the weight throw, joining Kaitlyn Long in 2018. Nabwe's weight throw moved her to No. 3 all-time in the event, and was the best throw by a collegiate woman since 2022 (Shey Taiwo, Ole Miss). Nabwe currently owns the all-time Big Ten record in the weight throw, Minnesota's school record and is now a four-time indoor All-American between the weight throw and shot put.
