MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – University of Minnesota baseball player Weber Neels was named Big Ten Player of the Week for his effort in the Gophers' four game series against Kansas, as announced by the conference this afternoon.
The senior catcher slashed .714 batting average, .737 on base percentage, and 1.714 slugging percentage last week, helping lead the Gophers to a 2-2 week against the Jayhawks. Neels tallied nine runs batted in and four home runs, including a three run home run on Wednesday. Neels also tallied two stolen bases and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. This is Neels' first Big Ten weekly honor of the season and first since being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week in 2023.
Gopher baseball is set for a two game, mid-week series against the University of Milwaukee this week. All the action is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Mar. 3, at 6:05 PM.
