MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The University of Minnesota swimming and diving programs are back at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center this weekend, hosting the NCAA First chance meet before postseason action is officially set to begin.

The Gophers finished off last week's B1G triple dual with the women's program taking down Purdue 242.50-110.50 and Northwestern 186.00-166.00. The men's program fell to Purdue 144.50-208.50 and Northwestern 139.00-214.00. Katie McCarthy led the effort from Minnesota today with two individual event wins.
Vivi Del Angel swept the women's diving events held at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatics Center, winning Big Ten Diver of the Week honors for her efforts. Vivi tallied a score of 339.65 in the women's 3-meter and a score of 331.30 in the women's platform to take home the victory in both events.
Katie McCarthy tallied three individual event wins and a new pool record over the two days of competition at the Norris Aquatics Center. McCarthy tallied a new pool record with a time of 9:40.49 to win the women's 1000 free, and would go on to take first place finishes in the women's 400 IM and 500 free.
Jacob Johnson set a new pool record of his own for his one individual event win of the competition, tallying a 1:41.68 to win the men's 200 fly. Four more Gophers finished the event with individual event wins, with Luke Brennan taking the men's 1000 free, Kamdyn Periat winning the women's 100 back, Morgan Thomas taking the women's 100 fly, and Daniel Eichel winning the men's 500 free.
