FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
1.
Meeting for the first time since 2021, RV/RV Minnesota (5-2, 3-1 B1G) visits defending national champion No. 4/4 Indiana (7-1, 4-1) Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. on CBS and the Gopher Radio Network. The game will also be the site of ESPN's College Gameday, marking the third time Minnesota has been a part of the show (Michigan in 2020, Wisconsin in 2019).

2. Minnesota is coming off a 13-10 win over then-No. 15/14 Iowa in its annual Homecoming game last Saturday. As a result, the Gophers took possession of Floyd of Rosedale for the first time since 2023 (and second time in the last 12 years) and snapped a five-game home losing streak to the Hawkeyes in the process. Earlier this year, the Gophers beat then-RV/24 Michigan 20-14, which gave them the Little Brown Jug and ended an 18-game home losing streak in the series. Those were two of Minnesota's three longest home losing streaks. Combined with last year's win over Wisconsin, the Gophers have ownership of Floyd of Rosedale, the Little Brown Jug and Paul Bunyan's Axe at the same time for the first time since Oct. of 1978. Still to come, Minnesota visits Penn State on Nov. 14 for the Governor's Victory Bell plus another battle for the Axe at Wisconsin on Nov. 27. The Gophers have never held all four of their rivalry trophies at the same time. More on the trophies can be found on Page 5 of the Notes.

3. Saturday's contest marks the third straight season that the Gophers take on the defending national champions, also doing so in 2024 (Michigan) and last year (Ohio State). It's the first time in program history that Minnesota faces the defending national champion in three straight seasons. It's also part of a stretch that sees Minnesota play three ranked teams in a row for the first time since 2015. Last week was a 13-10 win over No. 15/14 Iowa, while the Gophers host current-No. 7/7 UCLA on Nov. 7. According to the NCAA, the Gophers have the toughest remaining schedule in the country as their five opponents have a combined win percentage of .778 (28-8).

4. Luke Drzewiecki is the reigning Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week. He went 2-for-2 on field goals in the win over Iowa, making his first from 31 yards and then a 46-yarder as time expired. It was the first walk-off field goal of his collegiate career and the first for a Gopher since the 2023 season opener against Nebraska when Dragan Kesich did it. Drzewiecki has made 23 straight field goals dating to last season, the longest active streak in the nation (next closest is 19). He's made all 12 of his attempts this year, which is third in the country for most makes without a miss. The streak of 12 straight makes for the Gophers is tied for the fourth longest in program history and is four off the school record of 16 set by Dan Nystrom in 2002. More on Drzewiecki can be found on Page 12 of the Notes.

5. The 2026 campaign is the 10th for P.J. Fleck at Minnesota. He is tied for the fourth-longest tenured coach in program history, the second-longest active tenured coach in the Big Ten and the 10th-longest tenured head coach overall in the FBS. Fleck's Minnesota record stands at 71-46, putting him fourth in program history in overall wins. He's also fourth in Big Ten wins (42) and fifth in games coached (117). Fleck's overall win percentage of .607 is third best among Minnesota coaches with more than 40 games under their helm behind only Henry L. Williams (.786, 1900-21) and Bernie Bierman (.716, 1932-41, '45-50). In his 14th season overall as a college head coach, Fleck is 101-68 (.598), making him one of 19 active head coaches to reach 100 wins at the FBS level.
