Berkland and Rooney Named CSC Academic All-District

Both have a chance to earn Academic All-America honors
MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota baseball had two players named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-District® Baseball Team, it was announced Tuesday. Redshirt junior left-handed pitcher Noah Rooney and junior outfielder Drew Berkland earned academic all-district honors. Both are in the voting to earn Academic All-America accolades.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 1, 2025.
Noah Rooney was excellent on the mound in 2025 for the Gophers. The southpaw had a 4-1 record with a team-best 2.94 ERA in 22 appearances. In 49.0 innings pitched he posted 36 strikeouts, 13 walks and allowed just 16 earned runs. Rooney also tallied a team-high four saves. He allowed no runs in six of his final eight outings of the season. For his career, Rooney held a 7-1 record with a 3.73 ERA in 56 appearances.
Wayzata, Minn., native Drew Berkland had his best year yet in the Maroon and Gold, hitting .293 (second on the team) in 51 starts. He played in all 52 games, the only Gopher to do so. He hit 14 home runs and clubbed a team-high 53 RBI, slugging .546. He led the team in hits (60), walks (31), total bases (112) and runs (42) while ranking second in home runs (14), doubles (10) and stolen bases (12).
Minnesota finished the 2025 season with a 24-28 (10-20 B1G) record.
