Schwamb Leads Gophers Through First Day Of Hawkeye Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS - Sophomore Kyler Schwamb leads the University of Minnesota men's golf team through its first 36 holes Sunday at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa. 

The Maroon and Gold concluded the first 36 holes in seventh-place with a score of 6-over par (292-290). Kansas leads the team competition with a score of 26-under par. 

Notable: 
Competing as an individual, Schwamb carded a 2-under 70 in his second round, tying his personal best as a member of the Gophers. His eight birdies through the first 36 holes places him tied for 14th place with a score of 2-under par (72-70). 

Freshman Jack Crousore nabbed seven birdies through his first two rounds of competition. Crousore concluded the first 36 holes with a score at even-par placing him in a tie for 22nd place (74-70). 

Senior Eduardo Galdos (71-74) and junior Jack Wetzel (73-72) concluded their first day of competition with a score of 1-over par and in a tie for 29th. 

Senior Bennett Swavley (74 74) finished the first 36 holes tied for 41st with a score of 4-over par, with freshman Chun-Ta Wu (76-77) concluding the first 36 holes with a score of 9-over par and in a tie for 60th. 

Up Next: 
The final round of the Hawkeye Invitational will take place Monday beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
