MINNEAPOLIS -- Two-time Big Ten champion Anthonett Nabwe, along with Hadley Streit, are set to represent the Golden Gopher track & field program at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Norfolk State University. The meet will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va., from March 14-15.
NABWE AND STREIT AT NCAA INDOORS
Anthonett Nabwe and Hadley Streit are Minnesota's two individual qualifiers for the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships with Nabwe making her second straight appearance in the event.
For Nabwe, her season-best mark of 24.22m (79-5 1/2) has her seeded No. 1 for this year's weight throw final after finishing last year's NCAA Indoor Championships as a Second Team All-American (16th overall). Streit's first appearance at indoor nationals comes off of the heels of a sixth-place finish at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. Streit holds a season-best mark of 22.12m (72-7), which earned her the No. 14 overall spot among the 16 qualifiers in the women's weight throw. The 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships weight throw field is composed of seven Big Ten student-athletes with the conference having three different teams with two entries (Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin).
NABWE'S HISTORICAL INDOOR SEASON
Anthonett Nabwe has had one of the most dominant weight throw seasons in recent memory. The Liberian national became the first Big Ten student-athlete in nine years to defend her conference weight throw title in Indianapolis, on Feb. 28, with a lifetime best toss of 24.22m (79-5 1/2) on her final attempt. Nabwe sits No. 2 all-time in Minnesota history in the weight throw, only behind NCAA weight throw champion Kaitlyn Long (2018). Nabwe's 24.22m (79-5 1/2) mark also puts her at No. 8 all-time in the event among collegiates according to USTFCCCA.
Nabwe won four different conference Field Athlete of the Week honors during the indoor season, the most by any Big Ten field athlete since Sade Olatoye (Ohio State) in 2018-19. Additionally, Nabwe has not lost a competition in the weight throw this season, winning all eight competitions she has entered in this year.
