10/4/2025 7:41:00 PM | Soccer

The Golden Gophers return to action next Thursday against Southern California

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The University of Minnesota women's soccer team (5-6-1, 1-4-1 Big Ten) fell to No. 24 Wisconsin (9-3-1, 3-2-1 Big Ten) in a 3-0 loss Saturday evening at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium in front of 1,310 fans.

The Golden Gophers tallied 11 shots, including two on goal. Paige Kalal, Caroline Birdsell, Keegan Schmeiser and Aaryn Gabriel each recorded two chances. Goalkeeper Sarah Martin made five saves.

All three of Wisconsin's goals came in the first half. Adee Boer opened the scoring in the 10th minute off an assist from Jenna Baumann.

Brooke Allen doubled the lead in the 18th minute, converting a cross from Maddie Ishaug. Delaney Cox capped the scoring in the 37th minute, assisted by Taylor Gordon.

Despite the deficit, Minnesota played more aggressively in the second half, outshooting Wisconsin 7-5.

The Gophers return home for a two-game homestand next weekend as Southern California and No. 4 UCLA visit Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium. Minnesota will face USC on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT and UCLA on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. Both games will be streamed live on B1G+.
