Dance Team wins Pair of Gold Medals

The Golden Gopher dance team won two Gold Medals in their three competitions at the 2010 International Cheer Union (ICU) World Championship last weekend in Orlando, Florida at the Walt Disney World® Resorts. The dance team represented Team USA in the event.

Approximately 60 nations competed at the ICU in cheerleading and dance in a variety of categories. Minnesota claimed the Gold in the Pom and Jazz competitions and placed second to Japan in Hip Hop.

The ICU World Championship is the largest international cheerleading and dance team competition in the world. The ICU is now comprised of more than 80 member countries fielding a national cheer or dance team.

The University of Minnesota dance team is coached by Amber Jackson.
