The University of Minnesota spirit squad continued its storied tradition, adding two national championships at the 2025 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championships this weekend in Orlando, Fla. The Gophers walked away with titles in Cheer (Small Coed Game Day) and Dance (Pom).
The Minnesota spirit squad is one of the nation's most decorated and historic programs, with 28 combined UCA/UDA National Championships. It marks the program's first-ever win in Cheer and the 23rd title in Dance.
Minnesota opened competition on Friday with a first-ever national title in Small Coed Game Day. Minnesota took top billing over San Diego State and Penn State. The Gophers finished runner-up in Small Coed Cheer, as Bowling Green took the championship, while Penn State medaled in third.
The Minnesota dance team continued its title run on Sunday night, winning the championship in the Pom division. The Gophers earned their third-straight Pom title as Ohio State and Tennessee finished second and third. The Gophers finished second in Jazz, as Ohio State won the championship and Michigan came in third.
Goldy Gopher finished fourth nationally in the mascot division, while Cincinnati (Bearcat), Tennessee (Smokey), and Auburn (Aubie) placed first, second and third, respectively.
