Mokelke's Two-Goal Performance Powers Minnesota Past Colorado College, 5-0

Minnesota had four goal scorers in Davy Mokelke, Keegan Schmeiser, Tenley Senden, and Ellen Neuharth
Davy Mokelke led the offense with a two-goal performance, collecting four points, while Tenley Senden put together a three-point afternoon with a goal and two assists. Ellen Neuharth and Keegan Schmeiser also found the back of the net to help secure Minnesota's fourth victory of the season.
Goalkeeper Sarah Martin made two saves on the day to record her second clean sheet of the season.
The Gophers generated early opportunities through Ava Westlund and Katelyn Rigg. Minnesota broke through late in the opening half when Senden slid a pass through to Mokelke in the 40th minute, who finished to open the scoring.
Just 85 seconds later, Hailee Christensen and Schmeiser linked up to set up Senden, who buried her first goal of the season in the 42nd minute to give the Gophers a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Minnesota kept the pressure on in the second half, breaking the match open with three goals in a five-minute span. In the 69th minute, Emily Filbrun and Senden combined to set up Mokelke for her second tally of the afternoon.
Two minutes later, Caroline Birdsell and Christensen connected with Neuharth, who slotted home her second goal of the year to extend the advantage to 4-0. Schmeiser capped off the win in the 74th minute, calmly converting a penalty kick to push the final score to 5-0.
Minnesota outshot Colorado College 14-8 overall and held a 10-2 mark in shots on goal, while also holding a commanding 9-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Gophers return to Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 10, when they take on Iowa. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and can be streamed live on B1G+.
