Maroon and Gold Open Lady Paladin Invitational in Eighth Place

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of Minnesota women's golf team finished day one of the Lady Paladin Invitational in eighth place Friday. The Golden Gophers posted a team score of 294 (+6) in the first round at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
Senior Luisamariana Mesones led the Maroon and Gold after carding a 1-under-par 71 in the first round of the tournament. With three birdies on the front nine, Mesones is tied for 10th place after 18 holes during the opening day.
Alabama sits in first among the 12 teams with a 7-under-par team score of 281 after the first of three days of competition. Isabel Brozena of Xavier is holding the top spot on the individual leaderboard after finishing round one with a score of 66 (-6).
Notable:
Sophomore Lauryn Finley shot an even round score of 72 after securing three birdies on the day. She closed out the first round of the tournament tied for 15th place.
Reese McCauley carded a 75 (+3) by meeting par 11 times during round one. The junior landed in 35th place through 18 holes.
Freshman Rose Solberg closed out play tied for 40th place after the first round. She registered a 4-over-par 76 after securing two birdies in Greenville, S.C.
Susanna Manns penciled a score of 80 (+8) in her debut collegiate appearance. The freshman sits in 59th place after round one.
Individual competitor Regan Dusenbery carded an 11-over-par 83 in the first round, tying for 67th place.

The second round of the Lady Paladin Invitational will take place on Saturday, September 19. It is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. CT with live results available via Scoreboard by Clippd.
