Tyson Invited to NBA G League Draft Combine
5/2/2026 2:30:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Minnesota senior Cade Tyson is one of 44 prospects invited to participate in the 2026 AWS NBA G League Combine, May 8–10 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. It marks the second invite this spring for Tyson, who also participated in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, April 15-18 in Portsmouth, Va.
The three-day event provides NBA Draft prospects with the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of NBA and NBA G League scouts, coaches, and front-office executives. Participants will take part in five-on-five games as well as strength and agility drills.
Tyson completed his collegiate career at Minnesota this past season and led the Gophers with 19.6 points per game, ranking sixth in the Big Ten and placing him 21st in school history. On his career, he established 1621 points, made 213 three-pointers and 528 rebounds in 124 college games. An All-Big Ten honorable mention and NABC All-District selection, Tyson scored 628 points this past year, which ranked third all-time highest Gopher point totals, while his 175 free throws also place him third all-time in school history in a single season. During the season, Tyson produced two 30-point games, 15 20-point games and scored double-figure points in each of his 32 games played.
A select number of players from the draft-eligible group will earn invitations to the AWS NBA Draft Combine 2026 later in the week, based on their performance at the AWS NBA G League Combine.
Notable NBA players who have previously participated in the NBA G League Combine include Indiana Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard, New York Knicks guard Jose Alvarado, Dallas Mavericks forward Caleb Martin, Brooklyn Nets guard Terance Mann, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Max Strus, and three-time AT&T Slam Dunk champion and two-time Kia NBA G League MVP Mac McClung.
