3/7/2026 5:33:00 PM | Softball

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.— The Minnesota Golden Gophers were shut out 5-0 by Indiana on Saturday afternoon at Andy Mohr Field as the Hoosiers evened the Big Ten series at one apiece.

Minnesota (8-14, 1-1 B1G) finished with three hits in the contest, led by Tara Wolocko's 2-for-3 day at the plate. Maggie Werner added the Gophers' other hit with a seventh-inning single.

Macy Richardson (2-4) started in the circle and took the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) over four innings of work. Kylinn Stangl pitched the final two innings in relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Minnesota's best scoring chance came in the opening inning. Tara Wolocko singled to right field and moved into scoring position after a Hoosier fielding error. A groundout advanced Wolocko to third with one out, but Indiana escaped the inning without allowing a run.

The Hoosiers broke through in the bottom of the second inning on a sacrifice fly from Ellie Goins to give Indiana a 1-0 lead.

Indiana added another run in the third inning as Alex Cooper scored on Goins' second sacrifice fly of the game to make it 2-0.

The Hoosiers pushed their lead to three in the fifth inning when Josie Bird singled and eventually came around to score following a Minnesota fielding error.

Indiana added two more runs in the sixth as Bird tripled to center field to bring two runners home and extend the lead to 5-0.
