MINNEAPOLIS — University of Minnesota head tennis coach Lois Arterberry announced the signing of Ksenia Hanke to the Golden Gophers' 2026-27 class. Hanke, a native of Hanover, Germany, will join the Maroon and Gold after graduating from Carl-Friedrich-Gauß Schule this spring.

"Ksenia is a great addition to our program," Arterberry said. "She came on her visit and fit right in with the direction we want to take this program. Ksenia is passionate about tennis and has a strong desire to improve. She has been ranked in the top 12 in the German junior girls rankings and No. 111 in the German women's rankings, with several wins against top 70 players late last year.

"She is eager to compete and continue growing as both a player and a person. That is exactly the mindset we are looking for in this recruiting class. We are looking forward to welcoming her to the Gopher family."

Hanke has had an accomplished junior career, highlighted by multiple state and regional championships. She was also a German vice champion in doubles and currently holds a German women's ranking of No. 111. On the international stage, Hanke has reached the International Tennis Federation (ITF) singles and doubles semifinals. In addition to her individual success, she served as team captain for her home club team, showing leadership both on and off the court.

"The moment I met the team and saw the environment at Minnesota, I knew this was the place for me," Hanke said. "It felt like home, and that feeling made my decision clear."

Off the court, Hanke enjoys spending time with her loved ones.
