GAME ONE
LAS CRUCES, NM – The Minnesota Golden Gophers struggled on Saturday, falling to the Oklahoma Sooners by a final score of 12-2.
Natalie Susa (0-2) got the ball to start for Minnesota (3-5) and took the loss.
At the plate, the Golden Gophers were paced by Cassie Johnson, who went 1-for-1 on the day with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Tara Wolocko compiled a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers were trailing 1-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Minnesota scored two runs on solo shots from Wolocko and Johnson. The Golden Gophers were unable to hold the lead, as Oklahoma scored 11 times over the remaining four innings to grab the 12-2 win.

GAME TWO
LAS CRUCES, NM – Tara Wolocko put together a stellar showing at the plate Saturday, hitting two homers to help propel the Minnesota Golden Gophers over the New Mexico State Aggies 11-4.
Macy Richardson (1-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minnesota (3-5). The right-hander went four innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on seven hits, allowing two walks and striking out one. Sydney Schwartz also made an impact in the circle for the Golden Gophers, throwing three shutout innings while allowing no hits, with one walk and four strikeouts.
Wolocko went 2-for-4 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with two RBIs. Jae Cosgriff added to Wolocko's awesome power-hitting performance by going 2 for 4 with a double, a home run and five RBIs. Scarlett Kuhn also chipped in for the Golden Gophers, going 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers got the scoring started early, putting two runs on the board in the top of the first inning.
The Aggies then tied the ballgame at three before the Golden Gophers came back to reclaim their advantage in the fourth inning. Minnesota pushed across a run on Cosgriff's one-out RBI double, which brought the Golden Gophers lead to 4-3.
Minnesota held New Mexico State without a run before building their lead to 6-3 the following inning. The Golden Gophers added two to their tally on Kuhn's two-run homer.
The Aggies fought back, closing the gap to 6-4 until Minnesota added some insurance in the seventh. The Golden Gophers left the yard two times in the inning on the way to scoring five runs, bringing the score to 11-4 in favor of Minnesota. The score remained 11-4 for the rest of the game, as the Golden Gophers coasted to the win.
