Sixteen Gophers Earn CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award

More than 1,000 rowers across the country recognized

MINNEAPOLIS - Sixteen members of the University of Minnesota rowing team were recognized Tuesday by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) with the 2025 CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award. In total, more than 1,000 exceptional student-athletes earned the award across all divisions of collegiate women's rowing as these athletes represent the highest standards of excellence in both academic achievement and athletic performance.
 
This year's honorees averaged an impressive GPA above 3.75, with over 60 student-athletes achieving a perfect 4.0. These numbers reflect the dedication, time management, and resilience required to excel in demanding collegiate sports while pursuing rigorous academic goals.
 
The CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award recognizes collegiate rowers who demonstrate a strong commitment to success in the classroom and on the water. Nominees must meet the following criteria:
Academic Requirements
  • Must meet all institutional and conference eligibility rules
  • Must be in their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th year of eligibility
  • Must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the end of the fall semester
Athletic Requirements
  • Must have rowed in at least 75% of the team's spring races in an NCAA eligible boat
    or
  • Must have competed in an NCAA boat at their conference championship
 
"These scholar-athletes exemplify the discipline, work ethic, and the give and take it takes to succeed at the highest level," said Marnie Stahl, CRCA Executive Director. "Their achievements reflect the best of collegiate athletics. I would also like to add a very large thank you to our Awards Committee, Margaret Dail, Sarah Hudnall and Sam Sarff for all their work this awards season."
