Mesones Leads Minnesota in Top 10 at Boilermaker Spring Classic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Sophomore golfer Mariana Mesones leads the University of Minnesota women's golf team tied for ninth after the first day of the Boilermaker Spring Classic in West Lafayette, Ind. Mesones shot a bogey free round two to end the day one-over par.
The Gophers concluded the first day of competition in seventh place with a score of 18-over par (300-294-594).
The University of Illinois leads the team competition at one-over par (296-281-577).
Notable:
Junior Ruby Chi ended the first day tied for 23rd place with a score of four-over par (73-75-148). Isabella McCauley grabbed four birdies in the first 36-holes to end the day tied for 29th. She finished with a score of five-over par (76-73-149).
Freshman Reese McCauley ended the first two rounds at nine-over par (76-77-153) tied for 49th place. Junior Madison Le has a day-one score of 13-over par (81-76-157) and sits tied for 70th place.
Playing as individuals, Jordana Windhorst-Knudsen is tied for 45th place and Sara Tomaszewski is tied for 49th. Windhorst-Knudsen grabbed a four-over par 76 in both rounds to finish with a score of eight-over par. Tomaszewski sits one stroke behind her at nine-over par (78-75-153).
