Minnesota to Host Indiana, Purdue in Final Home Matches

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota tennis team will play its final home matches of the season this weekend as it continues its conference schedule.
 
The Golden Gophers will host Indiana (8-11) on Friday, April 11, at 4 p.m. CT, followed by a matchup against No. 66 Purdue (10-6) on Sunday, April 13, at noon CT.
 
The Season So Far
Minnesota opened the season 8-5 in non-conference play, highlighted by wins over No. 57 Iowa State, Missouri, and Boise State.

Mia Liepert, Aiva Schmitz, and Sofia Pinto led the Gophers during the non-conference schedule, each earning more than six wins.

Minnesota is 1-8 in Big Ten play, with a 4-0 win over Rutgers and narrow 4-3 losses to No. 48 Illinois and No. 44 Northwestern.

Last weekend, the Gophers traveled to Los Angeles to face USC and UCLA, losing both matches 4-0. The matches marked Minnesota's first-ever Big Ten meetings with both teams.
 
Scouting Indiana
  • Minnesota and Indiana have met 32 times since 1991. The Gophers have won four of the last five matchups, including a 4-3 victory in their most recent meeting on March 9, 2024.

Student Athlete and Fan Appreciation Weekend
The weekend will feature special promotions, including Student Athlete Appreciation Day on Friday, April 11, and Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday, April 13.

Fans can stop by the marketing table on Sunday for a chance to win a tennis prize pack, which includes court time at Baseline Tennis Center. Admission is free for all University of Minnesota students.
