Minnesota Falls 6-3 to Purdue in Big Ten Opener

MINNEAPOLIS- The University of Minnesota Baseball team (5-6, 0-1 Big Ten), fell 6-3 to the Purdue Boilermakers (13-1 1-0 Big Ten) Friday night.
Sophomore Brayden Hellum led the Gopher offense with two hits and two RBIs.
Cole Selvig got the start for the Gophers and took the loss. Selvig threw 4.1 innings with four strikeouts. Caden Capomaccio entered in relief and threw 4.2 innings with two strikeouts.
How it Happened
- Purdue got on the board first, scoring two in the top of the second off two RBI singles.
- The Boilermakers then added three in the top of the third scoring off an error and a two-run home run.
- The Gophers got on the board in the bottom of the third when Jack Spanier scored off of a Hellum single.
- Purdue added one more in the top of the fifth scoring off a sacrifice fly.
- Minnesota was able to add two in the bottom of the ninth, scoring twice off bases loaded walks.

- Brayden Hellum picked up two hits, two RBIs, and two walks.-
Knoll, Perry, Sutherland, Elbeery, and Spanier each chipped in a hit.
