Mesones Leads Gophers After Day One of Coach Mo Classic

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- Sophomore Mariana Mesones leads the University of Minnesota women's golf team tied for eight place after the first day of the Coach Mo Classic in St. Augustine, Fla. The Maroon and Gold concluded the first day of play with a score of 302-305-607 (+31). The Gophers currently sit in eighth place overall.
No. 39 Purdue leads team competition with a score of 577 (+1).
Notable:
Mesones tallied four birdies in the first 36-holes of competition. The Peruvian native finished her day with a score of 71-77-148 (+4).
Freshman Reese McCauley tied for 22nd place after grabbing seven birdies across rounds. She closes out the first day on the course with a score of 74-77-151 (+7).
Madison Le is tied for 29th place with a score of 77-75-152 (+8). The junior's round two 75 is her career best with the Gophers.
Junior Ruby Chi tallied three birdies across rounds to complete the day tied for 52nd place. She concludes the day with a score of 80-76-156 (+12).
Competing as an individual, Jordana Windhorst-Knudsen concluded the day tied for 63rd. The freshman heads into the final round at 14-over par.
Sophomore Sara Tomaszewski closed out the first day with a score of 15-over par and sits tied for 65th place.
