Gophers Defeat No. 9 Oregon Sunday Night

EUGENE, ORE.- The Minnesota Gophers (8-10, 2-4 Big Ten) defeated the No. 9 Oregon Ducks (17-4, 5-1 Big Ten) 9-1 Sunday night.
Noah Rooney got the start and threw 4.0 innings with five strikeouts. Hemmesch entered in relief, throwing 2.2 innings with three strikeouts and picked up the win.
Jack Spanier led the Gopher offense with three hits and an RBI. Brayden Hellum also chipped in two hits with two RBIs.

How it Happened
- The Gophers got on board first, scoring one in the top of the second inning when Jake Larson singled, bringing home Charlie Sutherland who also singled.
- Minnesota added six runs in the third after Jake Perry drew a bases loaded walk to score Berkland. Charlie Sutherland then brought in Knoll and Elbeery. Jack Spanier then hit an infield single to bring in Sutherland and Larson to take a 7-0 lead after three.
- Jameson Martin added one off a solo home run in the top of the seventh to make the score 8-0.
- Oregon scored one in the bottom of the seventh.
- The Gophers added one more in the eighth off an RBI single from Brayden Hellum that scored Spanier.
- All the Gopher starters reached base safely.
- The Gopher pitching staff combined for eight strikeouts.
- The Gophers out hit the Ducks 9-4.
