Gophers Set To Begin Spring Season Monday In Puerto Rico

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota men's golf team is set to compete in its first tournament of the 2025 spring season at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, Feb. 10-12.
The three-day, 54-hole stroke play tournament will be held at Grand Reserve Golf Club starting Monday morning with a shotgun start.

The Lineup:
The Maroon and Gold will be represented by seniors Eduardo Galdos and Bennett Swavely, junior Cormac Sharpe, and freshmen Jack Crousore and Chun-Ta Wu.
The Field:
The Gophers will be competing against fellow Big Ten foes Purdue (host), Iowa, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. The rest of the impressive field is comprised of No.1 Ole Miss, No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 7 LSU, No. 18 South Carolina, No. 27 Tennessee, No. 32 Georgia, College of Charleston, Marquette, North Florida, and Virginia.
Fall Recap:
The Maroon and Gold capped off their 2024 fall campaign in early October with a historic finish at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational, nabbing a new program 18-hole scoring record (264) and 54-hole scoring record (814).
Freshman Chun-Ta Wu set the program's freshman 18-hole score-to-par record at 7-under par. Seniors Eduardo Galdos and Bennett Swavely also collected personal bests in their final fall tournament, with Galdos posting a 7-under 64, and Swavely posting a 6-under 65.
