Personal Records Fall at 2025 First Chance Meet

MINNEAPOLIS– The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's and women's swimming teams completed the First Chance after two days of competition at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. 
 
With no diving or team scores at this meet, it has provided an opportunity for swimmers to improve their times ahead of Big Ten Championships. 19 different Gophers recorded personal bests this weekend. 
 
Senior Joey Tepper earned a B cut in the 1650 with a 15:09.92 which is a seasons best.  
 
Luke Leonidas and Jaden Heinlein each swam three personal bests. Leonidas in the 200 IM (1;47.17), 100 back (47.51), and 200 back (1:44.65). Heinlein's personal best also came in the 200 back (1:44.36), and 200 IM (1:48.96), as well as the 400 IM (3:53.76). 
 
On the women's side, Keira Mullins led the way with three personal bests. Those came in the 100 breast (1:03.11), 200 IM (2:04.36), and 200 breast (2:17.88).
 
The Golden Gophers now turn their attention to Big Ten Championships. The women are set to compete Feb. 19-22 at Ohio State. The men will compete at home Feb. 26- March 1.
